Biography

LT Danny Ellis was born in Salt lake City, UT on November 15, 1978. He graduated from
Granite High School in 1997. He enlisted in the Navy, reporting to Recruit Training Command,
Great Lakes, IL, on April 27, 2005. He remained in IL, attending Hospital Corp School and then
in March, 2006, he reported to Coronado, CA, where he attended and graduated from Basic
Underwater Demolition School (BUD/s) in November 2006. Next, in June of 2007 he reported to
the Naval Special Operations Medical Institute, Fort Bragg, NC where he attended and graduated
the Special Operations Combat Medic course.
He was assigned to SEAL Team Seven where he reported in March, 2008. Here he deployed to
the Philippines and Iraq, served as lead medic, attended Scout Sniper School, and advanced to
First Class Petty Officer. Next, he reported to the Naval Special Operations Medical Institute,
Fort Bragg, NC, August, 2012, as an instructor. Here he completed his degree in Aviation
Business Administration from Embry Riddle University, Magna Cum Laude, was awarded Sailor
of the Quarter, Instructor of the year, and was commissioned via the Navy’s In-service
Procurement Program on April 6, 2015.
After completing his Masters in Health Administration and Policy from the Uniformed Services
University of the Health Sciences in 2017 he was assigned to Walter Reed National Military
Center where he presided in numerous capacities within the patient administration department,
was recognized as the Junior Officer of the Quarter, and started his PhD at the University of
Maryland studying health services research.
In August, 2020, he was assigned as a professor at the Uniformed Services University where he
now serves as a faculty member in the Preventative Medicine and Biostatistics department.
LT Ellis has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy
and Marine Corp Achievement Medals (3), Joint Achievement medal, Meritorious Volunteer
Service Medal, as well as other various personal and unit awards and medals.
LT Ellis has been married 20 years to Crystal. They are blessed with three sons Tobyn, Jaedyn,
Brakyn, and daughter Evie. His family resides in Potomac, MD.
