Far-Forward Surgical Care

About JOTS+

This course focuses on procedural performance and patient management for small, far-forward surgical teams (6-8 people). The course is cadaver-based in a field-care context that includes the completion of 42 critical trauma and orthopaedic trauma procedures and culminates in a team-based management of concurrent polytrauma casualties. The 3-day course includes assessment of individual clinical abilities and integrated team-based patient care in the context of austere, resource limited environments. All military surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and surgical technicians who are deployable to far forward surgical care teams are eligible to participate in the course every 3-years.
