BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH IMAGING CORE (BRIC)
The Biomedical Research Imaging Core (BRIC) is a part of the Department of Radiology & Bioengineering. The BRIC is an imaging laboratory that provides advanced, state-of-the-art imaging for preclinical research activities, which include in vivo and ex vivo animal research. The experienced team of imaging scientists collaborate with investigators to provide protocol development, study design, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation. The BRIC includes a comprehensive spectrum of imaging modalities that include Positron Emission Tomography, Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography and Computed Tomography (PET/CT/SPECT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Optical imaging, in vivo microCT, ex vivo microCT and ultrasound. The BRIC has collaborated on many interesting and diverse combat-related research project areas such as amputations, multiple types of fractures, spinal cord injury (SCI), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and depression after injury which can have a direct impact on warfighter recovery. The BRIC strives to enhance preclinical research through providing advanced imaging techniques as well as by developing new techniques for imaging and post-processing.
