ADVANCED CLERKSHIPS IN PEDIATRICS

The Advanced Clerkships (AC) are available to students during their last 18 months of medical school. Each AC is one month long. ACs in pediatrics provide opportunities for the student to deepen their understanding in general outpatient pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties, to extend their patient management skills and accept intern-level responsibility for patients in sub-internships on the pediatric ward, nursery, and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and to engage in qualitative or quantitative research mentored by a member of the Pediatric faculty. ACs are available at all military hospitals, including multiple overseas locations, where students participate in the care of children at hospitals such as Landstuhl and Seoul.
