The David E. Cabrera University Family Health Center (UFHC) is a Tricare Prime clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive personal and family-centered care to active duty students, faculty, their families and other DoD beneficiaries assigned to USU. Enrollment is by invitation only and must be done through the clinic.

The UFHC is staffed and operated primarily by the Department of Family Medicine with board-certified family physicians and is supported by a professional staff nurse, medical technicians, and administrative support staff. The medical experts at the clinic can manage the majority of your health care. If further expertise is required to diagnose or manage a condition, consultation with other specialists can be obtained at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) or other health care facilities in the National Capital Region.

Seasonal Vaccination Site

Starting on Monday 10/16 WRNMMC will be providing both influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations for ages 12 and over (beneficiaries and staff) at their WRNMMC Mass Vaccination site- which is located at

The University Family Health Center along with the rest of the Military Health Clinics in the National Capital Region has transitioned their Electronic Medical Record to the Genesis platform starting 3/25/2023. WRNMMC Pharmacy 

WRNMMC pharmacies are only processing NEW prescriptions. You can activate new prescriptions by texting Q anywhere. Prescription refills are only processed through the NEX pharmacy and the drive through pharmacy window located at building 85T (The trailer is near gate 1 entrance). To activate your prescription follow the instructions below.

Directions to UFHC from Gate 1

Enter Gate 1 (Rockville Pike/Wisconsin Ave) on Wood Road, shortly after entering the gate veer right to continue on N Wood Rd. Proceed until the second stop sign by gate 2/ WR ER/ Turn left at the stop sign onto Palmer Road and continue straight past the ER. Stay on Palmer Road through the next 3 stop signs, after the third stop sign you will pass the university on the left. At the next stop sign turn left and drive down into the University garage using University Road. When you enter the parking garage turn right shortly after the security stand, patient parking will be located on your left as you enter the smaller lot. If there is no parking available you are welcome to park in any unmarked parking spots within the garage. CLICK HERE to access the base map.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 0715-1200 and 1245-1600
Wednesday 0830-1200 and 1245-1600.

Closed from 1200-1430 on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.

After-hours medical advice: Call the On-Call provider at (301)312-7241. If there is no answer call the Nurse Advice Line: 1 (800) 874-2273, Option 1.

We follow the Office of Personnel Management’s determination of the federal government’s operating status. In the interest of the safety and welfare of our patients, visitors, and staff, we may close due to inclement weather. Closure and delay decisions regarding University Family Health Center are made for public and patient safety, and they are not made lightly. If you have a scheduled appointment during adverse weather conditions, please call ahead to verify if the office is open.

CIVILIAN CARE

If you receive care at another military or civilian facility, please forward any treatment related information to the clinic for us to scan into your electronic medical records.

DENTAL RECORDS

Dental Care is available for active duty members at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) building 2, 2nd floor. All Active duty Dental Records are maintained at the Dental Clinic.
