Early Decision Program (EDP)

The School of Medicine invites applicants to apply for the EDP. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be made no later than October 1. An offer of acceptance means a strong commitment that the applicant will attend the Uniformed Services University.

Applicants who desire to be considered under this program should apply as an "Early Decision" applicant through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).

The Early Decision guidelines are as follows: 

• Qualified EDP applicants will be evaluated holistically, consistent with the mission of the USU School of Medicine. Qualified applicants will have an academic record to indicate an ability to succeed in medical education with the science and non-science GPA demonstrating continuous and sustained academic excellence. 

• EDP applicants must have an MCAT score of at least a 496 and a minimum overall /science GPA of a 3.0. 

• Accepted EDP applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for early decision, as well as the regular admission and commissioning requirements to the School of Medicine.

 • Not to apply through the EDP if you have already submitted an initial or secondary application (AMCAS or non-AMCAS) to a U.S. medical school for the current entering class. 

Dates & Deadlines: 

AMCAS Application and transcript deadline: August 1 

MCATs scores received no later than: August 1 

Secondary Application and Letters of Recommendation Deadline: August 15 

Initial DoDMERB (Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board) submission, security documents and Letter of Approval/Release: October 1 

Any application that does not meet the above guidelines will no longer be considered for the EDP.
