ACT / SAT test scores within the last 5 years are REQUIRED from all applicants. Test dates are limited and we highly recommend you schedule your ACT/SAT tests early in case you wish to retest before our deadline. All application documents, must be received by the 31 AUG application deadline and test scores must be received by 15 Sept.

APPLICATION PROCESS
The application period is May through August of each year for the class starting the following July. EMDP2 candidates submit application packets to USU with clearance documents from their respective military service (Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force). After screening application packets, the best-qualified candidates are scheduled for interviews and pre-commissioning medical examinations.
ELIGIBILITY
Please review the EMDP2 application requirements. EMDP2 is built for enlisted service members with the understanding they may have complex educational and career journeys. Our program follows most medical school application requirements with some adjustments since EMDP2 graduates will have completed standard medical school prerequisites.
- Enlisted on active duty (officers are not eligible)
- The Air Force allows qualified reservists to apply
- Any Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) / Rate / AFSC is encouraged to apply
- We seek applicants from all career backgrounds
- Between 3 and 10 years of service
- Time-in-service waivers are considered for those with 10+ years of service
- Time-in-service waivers are not considered for those with less than 3 years of service
- Less than 34 years old
- Age waivers may be considered for those older than 34
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. academic institution
- No restrictions on major or academic discipline
- Minimum cumulative GPA 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
- GPA waivers are considered in the context of the entire academic record and standardized test scores.
- 1 year (6 semester hours) college English or Writing-intensive Humanities, Languages, Social Sciences, or Psychology
- 1 semester (3 semester hours) college Algebra, Higher-level Math, or Statistics
- May be met by CLEP/DANTes/DSST
- SAT or ACT exam scores
- Scores must be at or above the 80th percentile
- Scores must be current within 5 years
- Meet Service requirements for commission (U.S. citizen, moral character, medical, etc.)

The Fiscal Year 2027 (FY-27) EMDP2 application cycle is now open! Applicants accepted into the FY-27 cycle will matriculate and start EMDP2 in June 2027.

All applications and documents are must be submitted by 2359 Eastern on 31 August 2026 without exception (NOTE this is earlier than previous cycles).
