OUR MISSION

The department has developed a surgical research effort that focuses on combat casualty care, surgical oncology, education based investigations, and orthopedic challenges. This effort is translational research from the battlefield to the bedside and benefits the wounded warfighter as well as the civilian sector. When coupled with the outstanding clinical care provided by our faculty, we are among the most dynamic academic surgical departments in the country.

In addition to the programs below, the Department of Surgery also provides research opportunities in Battlefield Shock and Organ Transport, Ocular Trauma, Neurosurgery-TBI, Tissue Repair/Regenerative Medicine, Clinical and Experimental Orthopaedics, and others.
