STUDENT AWARDS

Outstanding Student Leadership in Anesthesiology

Awarded to a graduating medical student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential, outstanding service to peers, commitment to peer mentoring, commitment to advancing the field, and active engagement in the ANE Department during their time as a medical student. Awardees are nominated by their peers and Department of Anesthesiology Faculty.

Academic Excellence in Anesthesiology

Awarded to a graduating medical student based on their academic performance, military standing, performance on anesthesia clerkships, and the impact of their research projects in anesthesiology. Candidates are nominated by the Department of Anesthesiology Faculty.

Residency Awards

The Anesthesiology residents play an essential role in teaching the medical students on rotation at their sites. Each residency site has the opportunity to recognize a resident who had an impact on medical student education (as evidenced through clerkship evaluations, curriculum development, presentations, and Program Director recommendations). Awardees are nominated by the ANE Education Committee, the Clerkship Site Directors, and the Residency Program Directors, and are decided on by the Program Directors. Recipients are announced at the individual residency program end-of-year award ceremonies.

Outstanding USU ANE Site Director

Awarded to the Site Director (must have an ANE faculty appointment) who had the greatest impact on the Anesthesia Clerkships during the current academic year. Candidates are nominated by the ANE Chair and ANE Education Committee. The awardee is decided by the ANE Awards Committee, and announced at the USU annual Site Director meeting.

Outstanding USU ANE National Faculty Member

Awarded to a current ANE faculty member who had the greatest impact on student education during the current academic year. Candidates are nominated to the ANE Education Committee by ANE faculty members, and the awardee is announced at the USSA annual meeting.
