Anesthesiology & the School of Medicine

The Department of Anesthesiology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences is dedicated to serve the Uniformed Services and the DoD through excellence in active clinical practice, research; and the education, training, and professional development of medical students, physicians, and allied health care providers.

Our highly skilled professional faculty ensure excellence in patient care, education, and research, and their expertise is integrated into all four years of medical student education. We use effective simulation in medical student and residency curricula, and develop simulation exercises for the education and training of all DoD healthcare providers.

We also actively support the National Capital Consortium Anesthesiology Residency and its component fellowship programs (Critical Care, Acute Pain Medicine, and Chronic Pain Medicine) in order to recruit trainees of the highest caliber, and to develop the trainees to their greatest potential as anesthesiologists, intensivists, and pain physicians.
