TMU facilities

 

The TMU facilities include expert staff, laboratory space, and departmental equipment.

Personnel

TMU personnel currently consists of:

  • 2 Physician Investigators
  • An Administrator
  • Program Manager
  • 3 Clinical Research Coordinators
  • A Research Scientist with expertise in Analytical Chemistry. 

Our expert staff provide support for

  • Subject recruitment, screening, and enrollment
  • Data collection and subject management
  • Broad range of clinical services including: routine physical examination, vital sign screening, phlebotomy, IV infusions, electrocardiography, etc.
  • Specimen collection, processing, storage, and shipment
  • Design, maintenance, and storage of records, regulatory files, and case report forms
  • Quality assurance and medical monitoring
  • IRB facilitation

Lab

The TMU consists of approximately 5,000 sq. ft. of physical space that includes

  • A volunteer check-in and waiting area
  • 2 examination rooms
  • A procedure room
  • 2 interview rooms
  • A conference room
  • Analytical Chemistry Laboratory
  • Product/sample storage facility
  • Refrigeration and storage facilities
  • Secure document storage

Our lab also has facilities for

  • Glassware washing and sterilizing
  • A chemical hood
  • Class II Biosafety Cabinets
  • Lab capabilities include:
    • HPLC with UV and fluorescence-detector systems
    • GC/MS (gas chromatography / mass spectrometry)
    • Centrifuges, evaporators, microscopes, agitators, pipettes and other ancillary equipment
    • Ultrahigh performance liquid chromatograph with tandem mass spectrometer (UPLC-MS/MS) 
  • Storage capability includes 6 cold storage units (4C (1) and -80C units (5)) for the storage of clinical samples.

  • Applied Biosystems Voyager DE MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometer
  • High sensitivity mass spectrometer
  • Automated agar plate production system
  • Applied Biosystems 7500 Real time PCR System
  • Applied Biosystems 9800 Thermal Cycler
