Military Medical Communities
Mission
To ignite a passion for military medicine and foster a unified community, Military Medical Communities connects geographically dispersed individuals—from aspiring undergraduate students and dedicated HPSP and USU scholars to accomplished active duty and retired physicians, esteemed fellows and residents, and vital supporting staff including ROTC cadre, HPSP recruiters, civilian pre-health advisors, and Post-baccalaureate programs. We achieve this by delivering inspiring content through monthly national virtual gatherings, cultivating intimate virtual break-out groups, and catalyzing in-person community building, mentorship, and opportunities to showcase the impactful world of military medicine.
Vision
Military Medical Communities envisions a future where a vibrant, interconnected national network empowers all individuals interested in military medicine. We strive to be the premier platform that seamlessly bridges geographical divides, fostering enduring mentorship, robust community bonds, and research collaborations to engage with and advance the field, ensuring a well-informed and inspired cohort dedicated to serving our nation’s past, present, and future war heroes.

Start a MMC Chapter at Your School
Starting your own local Medical Military Community (MMC) interest group is an amazing way to build a community of like-minded people. Not only will you connect with others who share your interest, but you'll also add a valuable leadership initiative to your CV and AMCAS application. It's a win-win!
We're here to help you every step of the way. Here are your next steps:
- Draft your bylaws: Use our bylaws template as a framework to get you started. Taylor them to create a version that fits your institution, then connect with your office of student affairs to make it official.
Pre-Medical Military Medical Community Bylaws Template
Medical School Military Medical Community Bylaws Template - Access our content: We'll provide you with monthly content, including speakers and forums, to help your group learn all about military medicine. (Email mmc@usuhs.edu to get in touch)
- Spread the word: Once you're up and running, we'll need your help to get the word out. Socialize the MMC events with your group, pre-med advisors, ROTC and classmates. Don't forget the classic "old school" bulletin board flyers!
- Find a mentor: We can help you find a military-affiliated physician in your area who can serve as a mentor for your group. (Email mmc@usuhs.edu to get in touch)
- Host an event: Think about hosting an in-person event, like a welcome meeting or a study session. Be sure to take photos! We'd love to highlight your chapter's success at our next MMC event.
