WHAT WE DO
Our Faculty Development program provides education and training focused in the areas of teaching, academic leadership, and scholarship & research to health profession educators throughout the MHS. We provide workshops and classes for credit in the USU Faculty Development Certificate Program for educators in the USU School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Postgraduate Dental College, and at over 20 Military Treatment Facilities across the country. The program also sponsors multi-day meetings to bring tri-service Graduate Medical Education leaders from across the country together to provide academic leadership training, and to build an academic leadership cadre to shape the future of Faculty Development in the Military Health System.
We offer faculty and leadership development seminars throughout the year, tailored programs to support faculty with specific needs - including junior, mid-career, and senior faculty, those new to the School of Medicine, and those navigating the promotion and tenure process, as well as individual consultation to faculty members and Dean's Annual Faculty Teaching Awards to recognize our best faculty.
USU SEMINARS
Held in various locations on USU’s Bethesda Campus, seminars are open to all those who can attend. Past Seminar topics have included: Go Ahead, Make My Day...Keeping on the Right Side of Copyright and Fair Use, Leveraging Social Media to Transform your Academic Career, A Toolbox for Teaching Empathy.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
The Certificate Program provides recognition to USU Faculty who devote their time to improving their academic scholarship and skills as teachers. The certificate has three individual tracks of study: teaching, academic leadership, and scholarship & research, and includes all faculty in the Military Health System or it’s affiliated programs, who are actively teaching health professionals in the MHS. Annually, our program averages more than 400 workshops across the University and teaching hospitals.
