Biography
The overall goal of my research is to identify significant molecular mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disorders such as traumatic brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorders. I am taking a multi-faceted approach to my research by combining preclinical animal models, molecular and biochemical techniques, non-invasive brain imaging (microPET and CT), and clinical data analysis of service members. These strategies complement each other by cross-validating the key neurobiological mechanisms that may contribute to individual differences in the sequelae of neuropsychiatric disorders. Identifying potential risk and protective factors of neuropsychiatric disorders and better understanding the mechanisms will enable us to develop improved treatment strategies for these debilitating neuropsychiatric disorders.Relevant Publication
