Start a Chapter at Your School

Starting your own local Military Medical Community (MMC) interest group is an amazing way to build a community of like-minded people. Not only will you connect with others who share your interest, but you'll also add a valuable leadership initiative to your CV and AMCAS application. It's a win-win!

Presentation Slides

We're here to help you every step of the way. Here are your next steps:

  1. Create a board
  2. Find a faculty advisor
  3. Draft your bylaws. Download our template (undergrad | med school) and tailor it to create a version that fits your institution
  4. Connect with your office of student affairs to make it official.
  5. Create a Chapter Email that can be passed down as leadership changes. Ideally something like "mmc@school.edu" or "mmc-school@gmail.com"
  6. Email us at mmc@usuhs.edu! We will work to find you military physician mentors, connect you with other students, and put your chapter on the website
  7. Start putting on events and spread the word! (Share your events with us mmc@usuhs.edu for the calendar; @usu_admissions on Instagram)

Mission

To ignite a passion for military medicine and foster a unified community, the Military Medical Community connects geographically dispersed individuals—from aspiring undergraduate students and dedicated HPSP and USU scholars to accomplished active duty and retired physicians, esteemed fellows and residents, and vital supporting staff including ROTC cadre, HPSP recruiters, civilian pre-health advisors, and Post-baccalaureate programs. We achieve this by delivering inspiring content through monthly national virtual gatherings, cultivating intimate virtual break-out groups, and catalyzing in-person community building, mentorship, and opportunities to showcase the impactful world of military medicine.

Vision

The Military Medical Community envisions a future where a vibrant, interconnected national network empowers all individuals interested in military medicine. We strive to be the premier platform that seamlessly bridges geographical divides, fostering enduring mentorship, robust community bonds, and research collaborations to engage with and advance the field, ensuring a well-informed and inspired cohort dedicated to serving our nation’s past, present, and future war heroes.
