Biography

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and commissioned by its Naval ROTC program, he attended medical school at USUHS and there transferred to the US Air Force. He completed pediatric residency at SAUSHEC and was Chief of Residents following graduation. As a general pediatrician at Wilford Hall Medical Center he acted as the USUHS MS-III Clerkship Coordinator and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Dr. Steigelman was then assigned to Travis AFB as Medical Director for the Pediatric Clinic and served as rotation coordinator for Family Medicine residents and physician assistant students, returning to Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center for SAUSHEC’s Allergy and Immunology Fellowship and has remained in its faculty. As staff allergist he has served as Immunizations OIC and Assistant Program Director of the Transitional Year Program before assuming the Program Director position. He is currently the Product Line Lead for Allergy/lmmunology in the San Antonio Market and Chair of the Council for Transitional Year Program Directors in the Association for Hospital Medical Education.
