Biography
Born at Naval Hospital Portsmouth Virginia (07Dec 1946). BA at University of Iowa (1967), MD University of Illinois in Chicago (1971). Returned to Portsmouth as an intern (1971). First graduate of Family Medicine residency at the Naval Hospital Pensacola (1974). Completed General Surgery residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego (1984) and Surgical Oncology research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wistar Institute (1995). Retired as Chairman of Surgery at San Diego after 46 years in the Navy on 01Jun2013.Served at Naval Hospitals in Pensacola FL, Naples Italy, Okinawa Japan, Charleston SC, Bethesda MD and San Diego CA. Ship’s Surgeon USS John F Kennedy CV 67 (1989-90), Senior Medical Officer Expeditionary Medical Facility Djibouti Horn of Africa (2011).
