Biography

Dr. Gabriel Kim is the chief of Physical Medicine clinic at Brian D. Allgood Army Community Hospital. He completed interventional pain fellowship at Department of Anesthesia in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is also a clinical assistant professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He specializes in image-guided procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain, musculoskeletal and spine injuries, including musculoskeletal ultrasound and fluoroscopy. He completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the National Capital Consortium, where he also served as Chief Resident and won the Outstanding Performance Award and Investigative Research Award. He received his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from the Johns Hopkins University with focus on sensors, micro/nano systems, and instrumentation. After working as a venture capitalist, Dr. Kim went back to Johns Hopkins to obtain his master's degree in biomedical engineering from Dr. Andre Levchenko’s Signal Transduction and Cell-Cell Communication Lab. He obtained his medical degree (M.D.) from Howard University College of Medicine. He also successfully completed visiting research internship at Harvard Medical School. He holds 4 international/US patents and has authored over 29 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. His current research interests are amputee care, regenerative medicine, and pain management. He is the principal investigator of a protocol investigating the use of depth camera to study gait of persons with limb loss.
