Biography

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences School of Medicine and an Attending Physician at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Alexander T. Augusta National Military Medical Center. I have a secondary appointment in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics and am honored to be the President-elect of the University Faculty Senate. Throughout my career, I have been active in training the next generation of healthcare professionals, having personally worked side by side and completed summative feedback for over 200 individuals (e.g., OB/GYN residents, undergraduate medical students, PhD candidates, midwifery students, physician assistant students, and graduate nursing students in women’s health). I regularly deliver didactic lectures and small group teaching and serve as a multi-disciplinary research mentor on several projects related to women’s health in the military. Throughout my career, one of my main areas of focus has been promoting health and physical readiness in midlife Active Duty women, Veterans, and other female Tricare beneficiaries. I initiated one of the first Midlife Telehealth Clinic for Women at AT Augusta Military Medical Center and am now actively involved a worldwide effort that provides this type of care for Active Duty Servicemembers and their Dependents across the nation and around the world. Recent efforts include collaboration on a menopause lecture series for the Defense Health Agency, as well as development of a short course in midlife women’s health for the National Defense University. In addition to gynecologic surgery and obstetrics, my clinical and research interests include military readiness in female servicemembers across their lifespan, midlife care to include management of perimenopause and menopause, lifestyle medicine, as well as obesity medicine and prevention. I am also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 2007 to 2023. As a Medical Corps Officer and physician, I served as an Assistant Department Chief and then Department Chief at Medical Centers in the Republic of Korea and Germany. Among other honors, I was awarded Joint Service Commendation Medal for my leadership in teaching and assessing over 150 graduate and undergraduate medical professionals from the various uniformed services, as well as a Meritorious Service Medal for my role as the OBGYN Division Chief at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, which included leading the Medical Center’s women’s health response to the 2021 Afghanistan evacuation. I am proud to serve as the Faculty Senate President for 2026-2027.
