Biography

Kevin M. Jackson OD MPH is an Associate Professor in Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at the Uniformed Services University (USU). He is a clinical consultant in the Medical Contact Lens clinic at the Walter Reed Eye Institute and practices primary care optometry at the Naval Health Clinic Annapolis. As an optometrist he has published research in Archives of Ophthalmology and authored policy statements for the American Public Health Association and the American Academy of Optometry. Highlights of his military career include serving as the Chief of Staff of the military’s medical school for 11 years, global health experience with HA/DR work in Morocco, Haiti and Mexico, and work with NASA as the medical coordinator of a Space Shuttle contingency landing team in Spain. Prior to optometry he was an engineering officer on an aircraft carrier as well as a science teacher in a New York City public high school.
