Biography

LTC Amanda Cline is Texas native. She joined the United States Army in March 2008 as a direct commissioned 2LT.

In 2005, LTC Cline received her Bachelor of Science in Entomology with emphasis in Mosquito Research and Surveillance from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Selected for Long Term Health Education Training (LTHET) in 2014, she attended the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences earning her Master of Science in Public Health with her thesis titled “Detection of Coxiella burnetii (Q fever) and Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) in field-collected ticks from the Cayo District of Belize, Central America.”

Upon completion of her officer basic training and preventive medicine course in August 2008, she went to her first duty station in Fort Benning, GA as the Executive Officer (XO) of the 926th Medical Detachment (PM). As an XO, she deployed ISO OIF and OND in February 2010. In 2011, she moved to Fort Hood, Texas where she served as the chief entomologist and later as the chief of environmental health for Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. Upon her LTHET graduation at USUHS in 2016, she served as the chief of the entomological sciences division at Public Health Command, Europe in Landstuhl, Germany. After, in 2019, she became the chief of medical zoology and senior entomology instructor at the Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston where she went on to win the 2022 MEDCoE and TRADOC instructor of the year award in the officer category. Before coming back to USUHS as an Assistant Professor in OEHS, LTC Cline left her role as the Public Health Command, West (PHC, W) XO. While at PHC, W from 2022-2026, LTC Cline served as the chief of the Environmental Health Engineering Division, followed by Operations OIC and then Director of Allied Public Health Sciences before becoming the BDE XO.
