Biography
MAJ Seyi Gbade-Alabi is an active duty Army Medical Corps officer and a board-certified physiatrist skilled in general physical medicine & rehabilitation, brain injury medicine, musculoskeletal medicine, healthcare leadership, clinical research, and academic medicine. She is an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the newest faculty member in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of the Health Science where she currently serves as the Director for Undergraduate Medical Education. Her current research efforts are focused on exploring new technologies to enhance the recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration of combat casualties, particularly those with traumatic brain injury. She serves as one of the Principal Investigators for the Center for Rehabilitation Sciences Research (crsr.usuhs.edu).Dr. Gbade-Alabi was a recipient of the United States Army Health Professions Scholarship upon her acceptance into medical school. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD where she served as chief resident.
Dr. Gbade-Alabi's awards include being a nominee and Finalist for the Paul Florentino Patient-And-Family-Centered Care Award in the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center 9th Annual National Capital Region Research Competition in 2017. Additionally, she received the Outstanding Performance Award and the Joint Service Commendation Award upon graduation from PM&R Residency.
MAJ Gbade-Alabi's Army medicine career has included serving as the Medical Director of the Traumatic Brain Injury Intensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Program Army Intrepid Spirit III and the Department Chief of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, KY from July 2017 until February 2019. Prior to that Dr. Gbade-Alabi was the Service Chief of Inpatient Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Walter Reed from August 2015 until June 2017.
