Biography
I received my MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA in 2005 before going on to complete pediatric residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego from 2005-2008. I served four years at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune where I was able to play a role within the Family Medicine Residency Program and also take the lead for the Pediatric Medical Home Port pilot initiative that is now widespread throughout the DoD. I returned to San Diego as faculty from 2012-2014 before having the good fortune of being asked to fill the Navy pediatrician billet within the Education Section of Pediatrics here at USU. I teach courses here at USU, mostly in small group settings, throughout the MS1 and MS2 curriculum. Having assumed the role of Clerkship Director in 2016, my newest position allows me a substantial amount of time with the clerkship students as well as advising our third and fourth-year pediatric career hopefuls. My passion is patient care and clinical teaching, both of which allow me to engage with learners of all levels. Currently, I see general pediatric clinic patients at WRNMMC, either with USU students or staffing resident clinic. In the unity of effort, I stay engaged at WRNMMC as the Navy Assistant Chief of Graduate Medical Education for 63 accredited programs as well as serving as medical director of the Darnall Medical Library.Roles at prior commands:
