Biography

Claire Witmer serves as the Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition here at Tripler Army Medical Center. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees at Georgetown University. She completed her Pediatrics residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. During this time frame, she was the recipient of an AAP grant for quality improvement as well as GME scholarship for an IRB approved Randomized Clinical Trial on the treatment of Eosinophilic Esophagitis. She’s currently serving as a member of the Pediatric Residency Clinical Competency Committee and Resident Research Oversight Committee. She also serves as Associate Program Director to the Transitional Year Internship Program. She has a special interest in humanitarian medicine, having been on Army missions to Tegucigalpa Honduras and Kathmandu Nepal, as well as civilian programs in Lesotho. She is the site director for the Military Medical Humanitarian Assistance Course.
