Biography

Dr. Trimble Spitzer attended Mary Baldwin University, graduating cum laude in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. She studied medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA, graduating with her medical degree in 2005. She completed internship and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and subspecialty fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
During fellowship, Dr. Spitzer was involved in laboratory research in the field of endometrial implantation receptivity, as it relates to identification, isolation and characterization of the transcriptome and signaling pathways of endometrial mesenchymal stem cells. Dr. Spitzer’s contribution filled an existing gap in literature on the subject of endometrial mesenchymal progenitor cells and their characteristics.
After the completion of fellowship training in 2012, Dr. Spitzer joined the medical staff at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth (NMCP) Virginia, and Langley Air Force Base, VA, where she continues to practice Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her ABOG General OBGYN Board certification in 2012 and Subspecialty certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in 2014. She served as the Program Director for the Residency in Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics at NMCP for 3 years. Dr. Spitzer is currently a Module Director for the Pre-Clerkship module, Reproduction and Endocrinology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS). As Associate Professor within the Department of Gynecologic Surgery and Obstetrics, she has earned faculty development certificates in both Teaching and Academic Leadership. Dr. Spitzer received the ASRM/ NICHD/ DUKE Clinical Research/ Reproductive Scientist Training (CREST) Scholar award for her academic research work in the field of reproductive medicine. She continues to be active in research and publish in areas of infertility and women’s health.
