Biography

Dr. Bernard Okech is a full Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics at the Uniformed Services University, where he also directs the Master of Public Health degree program. Before joining USUHS, Dr. Okech was Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental and Global Health and Emerging Pathogens Institute at the University of Florida. Dr. Okech's academic roles encompass teaching graduate-level courses in public health, vector biology, and environmental health. He also provides academic and research advising and mentorship to both master's and doctoral students. His research focuses on the natural transmission cycles of arthropod-borne diseases, specifically examining the vectors, the pathogens they transmit, and their environments, with the ultimate aim of uncovering new insights for
disease management.
