Biography

Dr. Cara Olsen serves as the Associate Dean for Graduate Education, a role she assumed in 2026 following seven years as Assistant Dean. Her previous leadership roles at USUHS include serving as Director of Graduate Programs in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics, and Chair of the Graduate Education Committee. A seasoned biostatistician, Dr. Olsen previously directed the Biostatistics Consulting Center and has contributed to over 150 peer-reviewed publications across various medical and public health disciplines. In addition to her administrative duties, she remains deeply committed to teaching, serving as a course director for biostatistics and epidemiology within the medical and public health curricula. Her work focuses on applying rigorous statistical methodology to biomedical and public health research.
