Biography
After graduating University of Virginia undergraduate with BA in neuroscience and School of Medicine with MD, Dr. Hiles entered her USAF training in Internal Medicine then Hematology/Oncology at SAMMC. She carried her interests in neuro-oncology and advanced life care planning for the terminally ill throughout her training to her current practice. She conducted and participated in several bench and clinical research projects focusing on the care of patients with brain, hereditary colon, and lung cancers. Working with regional & national organizations of ACP and ASCO, she championed the educational and career development for internal medicine residents & hem/onc fellows. She established an advanced life care planning education program for patients and internal medicine residents at SAMMC, propagated at her current assignment at DGMC on Travis AFB, CA. Her current academic endeavors include standardizing chemotherapy regimens and integrative nutritional medicine for cancer patients. Outside of her active career in hematology/oncology, Dr. Hiles interests include hiking (with the lifelong goal to visit every U.S. National Park), running, whole-food plant-based cooking, and classical literature.Career Highlights: Positions, Projects, Deployements, Awards and Additional Publications
