Biography

Cole Denkensohn grew up in Santa Barbara California. Beginning in High School, he worked in website development and programming. After an early decision to prioritize people rather than computer systems, he attended the University of California, Santa Barbara with a major in Microbiology towards the goal of becoming a physician. He spent a gap year volunteering in a Bolivian health clinic, developing an electronic medical record for the Santa Barbara Street Medicine group, and traveling. Finally, after interviewing with the Uniformed Services University, he was so impressed with the training, resources, and (most importantly) people that he committed to a career in military medicine.

He was commissioned into the Navy, which felt like an obvious choice given his connection to the ocean. While in medical school, he fell in love with an Army classmate, rotated in various specialties across the globe, and ultimately decided that Neurology would allow the ideal blend of medicine and technology. After getting married and transferring into the Army, he was accepted into Neurology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Four years later, towards the goal of augmenting his capabilities as a general neurologist, he undertook a 1 year Neurophysiology fellowship with a focus on both Neuromuscular Medicine and Epilepsy.

In 2024 he was sent overseas to Germany to begin a career in military medicine.
