Biography

Lt Col Emily L. Sturgill is the Anesthesiology Flight Commander and Deputy Squadron Commander, 99th Surgical Operations Squadron, 99th Medical Group, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. She leads the preadmissions clinic, perioperative surgical services, and the pain management clinic for over 4.1K surgeries annually supporting the medical group’s 141-million-dollar mission. Lt Col Sturgill directs sixty-four personnel, accomplishing patient care for five operating rooms, two cesarean suites, and fourteen surgical specialties, enabling services supporting 238,000 Department of Defense and Veterans Administration eligible beneficiaries in addition to 12,300 active-duty members. She leads Air Combat Command’s sole pain management clinic providing 1,200 clinic visits and 1,400 procedures yearly.

Lt Col Sturgill entered the Air Force through the University of Wisconsin Reserve Officer Training Corps Program in May of 2007. She attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Sturgill completed residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and is a board-certified Anesthesiologist.

Lt Col Sturgill has deployed in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
