Biography

Dr. Ernest Lockrow, DO, is currently a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Gynecologic Surgery & Obstetrics at the Uniformed Services University and served as the Department Vice Chair from 2012-2023. Dr. Lockrow received his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY and received his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. He has been a pioneer in the military for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and performed the first total Laparoscopic hysterectomy in the Military in 1998. He is a fellow of both the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG). Dr. Lockrow has held positions in the National Capital Area since 1996 as Staff at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Chief of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Chief of Gynecology, Director of Continuing Medical Education for Obstetrics and Gynecology and as the Chair of the Integrated Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He founded the only DoD fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and served as the Fellowship Director from 2010-2012. Dr. Lockrow is an active member of ACOG, AAGL, APGO and the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS). Dr Lockrow continues to have an interest in minimally invasive surgery, simulation and robotic surgery.Training and educating surgeons to provide safe, effective and appropriate gynecologic surgery has always been his personal passion.
