Biography

Commander Heather Soloria was born at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. She attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia (B.S. Neuroscience, 2006). She was commissioned as an Ensign via the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 2007 and attended Eastern Virginia Medical School (MD, 2011). She was commissioned as an active duty Lieutenant in 2011 and completed pediatric internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego, California in 2012.

She attended the Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer Indoctrination course at the Surface Warfare Medical Institute in San Diego, California prior to reporting to USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) as Senior Medical Officer. Onboard USS Carter Hall, LCDR Soloria deployed to the fifth fleet area of responsibility and qualified as a Surface Warfare Medical Department Officer. She then reported ashore at Commander, Surface Forces Atlantic where she served as General Medical Officer at Medical Readiness Division Norfolk overseeing surface force independent duty corpsmen. During this tour, she also briefly served as the Acting Senior Medical Officer at US AEGIS Ashore Missile Defense System, Romania. She completed pediatric residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. Following residency graduation, she served as Navy Chief of Pediatric Residents and Staff Pediatrician. She served overseas as Staff Pediatrician and Department Head of Pediatrics at Naval Hospital Guam, Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Command Guam.

CDR Soloria is board certified in General Pediatrics and currently serves as Staff Pediatrician and Core Faculty at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Navy Medicine and Training Command Portsmouth. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and earned a Faculty Development Teaching Certificate in 2019. In 2022, she was selected as the American Academy of Pediatrics Uniformed Services Chapter West Navy Pediatrician of the Year.
