Biography

Dr. Ward began his military service through the Army ROTC program at the University of Notre Dame. After completion of his undergraduate degree at Notre Dame and his medical degree at Tulane University, Dr. Ward performed an Internal Medicine Residency at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. He remained as an academic internist at SAMMC, helping teach medical students, interns, and residents before entering into the Rheumatology fellowship at SAMMC. While a fellow, he made his mark in the research world by publishing multiple articles and heading an original IRB approved research project studying the ultrasonographic features of the posterior tibialis and peroneus brevis tendons in healthy subjects and subjects with inflammatory arthritis. He received further training in musculoskeletal ultrasound through USSONAR of which he remains a member. Currently, he is practicing at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
