Biography

Dr. Kronmann started his Navy Career as an instructor at the Naval Nuclear Power school in Orlando, before leaving active duty service to attend medical school. After completing residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky, he returned to active service as an Infectious Disease Fellow at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. His first assignment after fellowship was as the officer in charge of the Ghana detachment of NAMRU-3, where he conducted research on a malaria vaccine and Lassa virus, as well as surveillance in other tropical infectious diseases. He then returned to clinical medicine and teaching at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth. While at NMCP he continues research in traveler's health, teaches medical students and residents, and provides medical care as an attending internist and infectious disease physician. He has deployed twice on the USNS Comfort (Continuing Promise 2015 and Puerto Rico Hurricane relief 2017), and was physician lead on hospital preparations during the Ebola Virus outbreak in 2014. His research and teaching interests focus on infectious disease threats to deployed military personnel.
