Biography

LT McCoy grew up in San Diego, California. She received her Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Southern California in 2013. She was commissioned as an Ensign in the Naval Reserves in 2013 under the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program and attended the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. While attending medical school, she was involved in leadership for the pediatrics student interest group, volunteered to teach health classes to middle school students in underserved communities of Los Angeles, and coordinated a community women’s health and defense class. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine and commissioned as an active duty Lieutenant in 2017.

LT McCoy completed her graduate medical internship year in Pediatrics at Naval Medical Center San Diego (2017-2018). Afterward, she served as Battalion Surgeon, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines stationed in Twentynine Palms, California supporting artillery detachments to the Unit Deployment Program in Okinawa and Marine Rotational Forces Darwin (2018-2020). There, she earned her Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer qualification. Following her General Medical Officer tour, LT McCoy returned to Naval Medical Center San Diego in to complete her graduate medical residency training in General Pediatrics (2020-2022). She is currently serving as Staff Pediatrician at US Naval Hospital Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
