Biography

MAJ Kristen Romanelli was born and raised in New York. MAJ Romanelli earned her Bachelors of the Arts in Dramatic Literature with a minor in Chemistry from New York University in 2009. She was commissioned into the United States Army through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 2009 and studied Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University-New York, College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning her degree in 2013.

MAJ Romanelli completed her pediatric internship and residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI from 2013-2016. MAJ Romanelli then served as a general pediatrician at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (now known as Alexander T Augusta Military Medical Center) in Fort Belvoir, VA from 2016-2018. From there MAJ Romanelli was accepted into fellowship training. MAJ Romanelli completed her Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellowship from 2018-2021 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. During her time in fellowship MAJ Romanelli conducted research in thyroid cancers when seen as second malignant neoplasms.

In 2021, MAJ Romanelli became a staff pediatric hematologist oncologist at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. MAJ Romanelli continues to serve in San Antonio as the Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology within the Department of Pediatrics at Brooke Army Medical Center. MAJ Romanelli continues her work in research within various areas of pediatric hematology/oncology.
