Biography
Lieutenant Commander LeDuff joined the Navy in March 2004 from his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is currently serving as the Department Head of the Maternal-Child-Infant Nursing Department at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC.Lieutenant Commander LeDuff attended Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, Louisiana, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science in May 2003. He enlisted in the United States Navy in March 2004 and reported to Recruit Training Command with follow-on training at Hospital Corpsman A-School in Great Lakes, Illinois and Field Medical Service School at Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California. As a Hospital Corpsman, he was assigned to 2d Marine Division, 8th Marine Regiment, Battalion Aid Station, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as his first duty station. In 2005, he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III. Following his return from deployment, he worked as the Assistant Career Counselor for the Sailors of 2d Marine Division. He applied and was selected for the Navy’s Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program. In 2011, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and was commissioned as an Ensign is the United States Navy Nurse Corps with orders to Officer Development School (ODS) in Newport, Rhode Island. Following ODS, he reported to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Hampton Roads, Virginia where he served as a staff nurse in both the Inpatient Pediatrics Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and later served as the Assistant Division Officer of the NICU. He applied and was selected for Duty Under Instruction (DUINS) and attended Duke University School of Nursing, earning a Master of Science in Nursing as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Following DUINS, he was relocated to Naval Medical Readiness and Training Unit Iwakuni, Japan where he served as the clinic’s neonatal expert. He is currently the Department Head of the Maternal-Child-Infant Nursing Department at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, consisting of the NICU, Labor & Delivery, and the Mother Baby Unit. He has also published three peer-reviewed articles in Advances in Neonatal Care. Additionally, he holds a national certification in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-NIC) and a board certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC). He is the BUMED Neonatal Critical Care Specialty Leader for the 1964 community. He is also a graduate of the Naval Command and Staff Program’s Joint Professional Military Education Phase I from the United States Naval War College.
Lieutenant Commander LeDuff’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards). He holds the warfare qualification of Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist.
