Biography

Currently an Assistant Professor and lead for Vector Biology and Medical Parasitology for the Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics division at the Uniformed Services University for Health Sciences (USUHS). Prior to USUHS, LTC Long served as the Executive Officer and Staff Entomologist for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Public Health at USAMEDCOM, Director of Laboratory Services and Director for Environmental Services for US Army Public Health Command-Pacific (Japan), Director of the Walter Reed Biosystematics Unit (WRAIR) at the Smithsonian Institute, Deputy Director of Virology at USAMRIID. Deployments include both Iraq and Afghanistan as the Executive Officer of a Medical Detachment (1469th and 223rd, respectfully) and to Japan in support of Operation Tomodachi as Staff Entomologist for the 9th Area Medical Laboratory.
