Biography
Dr. Damiano first joined the U.S. Navy Reserves through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 1998 while attending the University of Notre Dame as an undergraduate. Upon graduation from medical school in 2002, he was promoted to active duty Lieutenant and went on to complete his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He served four years as a staff internist at the Great Lakes Naval Health Clinic and then went on to complete a highly competitive three year fellowship in Gastroenterology at the National Capital Consortium in Washington, DC. As a staff gastroenterologist, he served at the new Fort Belvoir Community Hospital for three years. After 13 years of service in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Damiano separated from active duty and took a civilian contractor position as a staff gastroenterologist at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, where he continues to work, train fellows, and pursue his main interest in colorectal cancer screening.Career Highlights: Positions, Projects, Deployements, Awards and Additional Publications
