Biography
Lieutenant (Dr.) Burns is part of the core faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency at the Naval Medical Readiness and Training Command in Portsmouth, Virginia. He currently serves as supervisory physician for residents in both inpatient and outpatient environments, ensuring appropriate educational advancement through didactic and clinical teaching. He is also a member of the Clinical Competency Committee, where he reviews progress of 34 residents annually, ensuring completion of requirements for graduation from residency program. Dr. Burns is a mentor as well, guiding four trainees annually, providing them with additional mentorship in medical and naval career paths. He was previously the chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee from 2022 to 2023 and led an interdisciplinary team of 20 medical professionals in quality improvement and stewardship measures across seven branch clinics.Career Highlights: Positions, Projects, Deployements, Awards and Additional Publications
