Biography

Colonel (Dr.) Rechell G. Rodriguez is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). She is the USUHS Associate Dean for Regional Education & Academic Support providing faculty development at Naval Medical Center San Diego, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, David Grant Medical Center, and Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital. She is an active duty Air Force Internal Medicine faculty member. On faculty of USUHS, Department of Medicine since 2005, she was the Clerkship Director of the Internal Medicine Clerkships Program from 2005-2016. She co-directed the oversight of 7 Internal Medicine clerkship sites across the Military Health System at Madigan Army Medical Center, Naval Medical Center San Diego, San Antonio Military Health System, Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, and District of Columbia VA Medical Center. Her areas of expertise include Internal Medicine, the Stanford Faculty Development Center-Clinical Teacher Program, and faculty development for undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education, and continuing medical education. She was the Chair, GMEC Faculty Development subcommittee at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC) from 2013-2016 where she provided institution-wide faculty development initiatives through her creation and delivery of the annual New Teaching Faculty Orientation Course, the annual New Chief Resident Symposium, the quarterly Women in Medicine seminars, the Stanford Faculty Development Center-Clinical Teacher courses, and 62 faculty development resources online via New Innovations. From 2000-2016 she served as core faculty for 3 different Internal Medicine Residency Programs to include David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB; Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB; and San Antonio Military Medical Center, previously known as Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, TX. She was appointed by the Air Force Surgeon General LTG Charles Green to be the American College of Physicians (ACP), Governor of the Air Force Chapter from 2010-2013. Through her leadership, the Chapter held 3 annual meetings, received 3 Chapter Excellence Awards and the John Tooker Evergreen Award for the collaborative efforts of holding the first ever Tri-Service Military ACP meeting in 2012.
