Biography

My military career began when I was selected for the HPSP scholarship and commissioned as an officer the summer of 2012 before starting medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. During my time in graduate school my accomplishments were highlighted by the Charles Pinckney Darby, Jr. M.D. Award for Excellence in Clinical Pediatrics for 2016 and selection into the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity prior to my graduation in 2016. I made the decision to pursue a career in pediatrics and was accepted to begin my pediatric training as an intern at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. From 2016-2017 I completed my internship. During that year I was selected to complete an operational tour as a flight surgeon. After intern graduation, I completed the military tropical medicine course at Walter Reed before heading to Pensacola for flight school. In Florida, I completed the Naval Flight Surgeon Course/Aviation Preflight Indoctrination and received orders to serve as the flight surgeon at Training Air Wing Two in Kingsville, Texas for 3 years where Navy and Marine pilots selected to jet platforms training with the T-45 aircraft. I honorably served as the primary care provider for 350+ aviators/flight personnel providing medical support for flight physicals, acute visits, physiologic episodes/decompression sickness, and flight related mishaps. My proudest accomplishments of this tour included receiving the Humanitarian Service Medal and Armed Forces Service Medal for efforts while providing relief in the humanitarian mission against COVID-19, logging 270+ flight hours/38 traps, and recognition for excellence in the clinic setting with JOES Best of the Best for top 2% of DOD clinics as well as the Blue H Surgeon General Health Promotion Award Gold Star. I was able to pursue personal interests of mine by completing the Mountain Medicine Course at Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center and JPME Phase I training. After my tour, I was privileged to be selected to return to NMCP to complete my residency training in pediatrics. I graduated from training in 2023 and was selected for follow on orders as the NMCP Pediatric Residency Chief of Pediatric Residents. My duties involved a variety of administrative duties to further the success of our program and residents as well as clinical duties as a general pediatrician covering the pediatric ward, nursery, and clinic spaces. Collateral duties included recruiting patients for the pediatric penicillin de-labeling clinic where I was the overseeing provider. Ultimately, I found my passion in Allergy and Immunology and was selected to begin fellowship training at NCC/Walter Reed beginning in July 2024. I look forward to the next steps in my career and my pursuit of my field of interest.
