Biography
MAJ Silsby serves as the Ph.D. Program Director and an Assistant Professor in the Occupational and Environmental Health Science division of the Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics Department. She began her active duty service in 2013 as an Environmental Science and Engineering Officer (ESEO) in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. Academically, MAJ Silsby holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Environmental Engineering) from North Carolina State University, a Master of Science from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Public Health from Texas A&M University. She completed her undergraduate degree in Germany at the University of Applied Sciences Amberg-Weiden.With extensive experience, MAJ Silsby has held various public health and environmental engineering roles at Fort Cavazos, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and in Afghanistan. Her educational contributions include serving as a Course Director at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. Before her military career, she worked as an environmental engineer for local government agencies. MAJ Silsby is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), with research interests centered on the remediation of emerging contaminants and water chemistry.
