Biography

Col. (Dr) Sunghun Cho earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). He then completed a transitional internship and a dermatology residency at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Cho is a Military Dermatology, Healthcare Delivery, Medical Education, Scar/Amputee Care.

Dr. Cho began his career as the Chief of Dermatology at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Cavazos, Texas, from 2007 to 2010. During this assignment, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as the squadron surgeon for the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. He went on to serve in a series of clinical and leadership roles as Chief of Dermatology at the Bavaria Medical Activity in Germany (2010-2013), Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital in South Korea (2013-2015), and Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii, where he was also the Director of the Hawaii Dermatology Market (2015-2019).

In 2019, Dr. Cho transitioned to his current position where he serves as the Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Dermatology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. From 2019 to 2025, he also served as the Dermatology Consultant to the Office of the Surgeon General, providing expert guidance to three Army
Surgeon Generals. He continues to practice clinically at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
