Biography
Dr. Regan earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University after completing his psychology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Afterwards he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Drug Dependence and Epidemiology Training program at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. His research is centered around understanding Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) and other addictive behaviors from a biopsychosocial lens. For example, his work examines influences of impact for SUDs and casual links of SUD disease progression. Dr. Regan is also interested in examining the role of technology within addictive behaviors. This includes technology-based applications of behavioral health treatment, as well as conceptualizing potentially problematic forms of smartphone and social media use.
Dr. Regan has experience from a range of clinical settings including specialty medical inpatient and outpatient units, a county jail, a residential SUD rehabilitation facility, a health care collaborative for U.S. refugees, and private practice. His current clinical interests focus on evidence-based assessment of mental health- and cognitive-related functioning. His training has been funded through the National Institute of Drug Abuse and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
