Biography

Dr. Yuan-Chiao Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology and Bioengineering at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, with extensive collaborative research experience in Dr. Pham's laboratory. Dr. Lu’s academic and professional trajectory is distinguished by his expertise in medical imaging, biomechanics, and biostatistics. He earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics from Virginia Tech-Wake Forest University, complemented by M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Biostatistics, exemplifying a multidisciplinary approach to advancing medical research.

Dr. Lu’s research focuses on leveraging tagged magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for biomechanical characterization of the brain, significantly enhancing the understanding of brain injury mechanisms and optimizing medical imaging for research and clinical applications. Additionally, he has applied advanced computational methodologies to improve medical device design and develop strategies for preventing traumatic brain injury, while contributing to the fields of epidemiology and pediatric research. His combined expertise in data collection, analysis, and computational modeling underscores his ability to drive innovative solutions in radiology and bioengineering.
